Description
Do i need neighbours approval before getting the fence done if its dividing between our properties?
Yes, the boundary fence is jointly owned by both of you. This means you are required to work together to agree on the fence type, cost, and scope of works to be carried out by a fencing contractor, with the costs generally shared 50/50.
There are some exceptions where one neighbour may be fully responsible for the cost—for example, if a tree located entirely on one property falls and damages the fence.
