Which lock suits your door
The Orion Grid Connect is the easiest fit. It drops into a standard 54mm bore hole with a 60 or 70mm backset on doors 35 to 55mm thick, so it suits most existing timber entry doors without any new drilling.
The TP-Link Tapo DL110 replaces a single cylinder deadbolt in the Lockwood or Lane style. We check your door against the TP-Link template before drilling so the existing holes line up.
The Philips Wi-Fi Smart Lever is a mortice lever set. It suits doors that already have a mortice lock, otherwise we cut the mortice pocket on site. It takes a normal key as well as fingerprint, PIN, app and card entry.
Wi-Fi is optional
Every lock we install works on its own the moment it is fitted. You can unlock with fingerprint, PIN or key without ever connecting to Wi-Fi.
Wi-Fi is only needed if you want remote access, guest codes, phone alerts and an access log. If you want that, add Wi-Fi and app setup in the calculator and we connect it on the day.
Supply or install only
When EasyFixed supplies the lock, it is covered by our 12-month replacement warranty on top of the manufacturer warranty. We carry the stock and bring it to the job.
If you already have the lock, we install it and cover our workmanship only. The manufacturer warranty on the lock itself still applies.
Much of Melbourne sits on reactive clay. Clay swells in winter and shrinks through summer, which works fence footings loose over the years. It is the single biggest reason posts lean here, and why we set footings deeper than the bare minimum.
Most Melbourne councils allow a boundary fence up to 2.0 metres between neighbours without a planning permit, with lower limits on street frontages. Heritage overlays across the inner suburbs add extra rules, so check with your council before going tall at the front.
Hot dry summers and wet winters are hard on timber. Expect to re-stain a paling fence every three to five years, and expect the north and west facing runs to weather first.
Housing ranges from period terraces and weatherboards in the inner suburbs to newer estates further out. Timber paling and Colorbond dominate back boundaries, while aluminium slat and blade fencing is the common choice on modern front boundaries.
Do I need Wi-Fi for the lock to work? No. Every lock we install works standalone on fingerprint, PIN and key. Wi-Fi is only needed for remote access, guest codes and phone alerts.
Can you fit a smart lock to my existing door? In most cases yes. The Orion fits a standard 54mm bore hole, the Tapo replaces a single cylinder deadbolt, and the Philips suits doors with an existing mortice lock. If you are unsure, pick check on site and we confirm before drilling.
What warranty do I get? When we supply the lock, you get a 12-month EasyFixed replacement warranty on top of the manufacturer warranty. If you supply the lock, the manufacturer warranty applies and we cover our install workmanship.
Can I mix and match locks? Yes. The calculator lets you select multiple locks with bulk discounts of 10% off for 2, 15% off for 3, and 20% off for 5 or more.
